CALIFORNIA - Meskipun berasal dari satu garis keturunan dengan Linux, Android seringkali dianggap berbeda dengan garis utamanya. Kini, pada versi 3.3 yang baru dirilis pada 18 Maret, Android telah dibenamkan ke dalam sistem operasi Linux.

Diwartakan Slashgear, Senin (19/3/2012), penggabungan Android ke dalam Linux telah mengakhiri kontroversi tentang bagaimana caranya menyatukan kedua perangkat lunak open-source tersebut, sekaligus membuat para developer bisa lebih lugas dalam menciptakan aplikasi cross-platforms.

"Untuk waktu yang lama, kode dari proyek Android tidak bisa digabungkan dengan Linux karena adanya ketidaksetujuan antara para pengembang dari kedua proyek tersebut," tulis catatan perilisan Linux 3.3.

"Untungnya, setelah beberapa tahun perbedaan itu mulai diluruskan. Berbagai sub-systems serta fitur Android telah digabungkan dan ke  depannya akan ada lebih banyak lagi," tambah tulisan itu.

Munculnya keputusan ini dikatakan sebagai suatu usaha untuk menghindari percabangan yang signifikan dalam Android, meskipun para pengembang Android sendiri terus mengatur sistem operasi tablet dan ponsel cerdas.

Sedangkan perubahan lain ke Linux 3.3 termasuk dukungan untuk RAID, pemulihan RAID drive array yang lebih cepat dengan waktu stripping ulang yang berkurang ketika mengisi HDD baru, peningkatan dukungan ethernet, dan perubahan keamanan.

Setelah diluncurkan pertama kali di Indonesia pada 2008 lalu, LX 570 menjadi alternatif bagi konsumen yang mencari SUV premium, yang mengutamakan kombinasi antara kemewahan dan kenyamanan berkendara.

Lexus berhasil mendapatkan respon yang positif dari para penggemar mobil mewah di Indonesia. Terlebih varian LX 570 yang berhasil menjadi tulang punggung penjualan dengan menempatkan LX 570 menjadi SUV mewah nomor satu di Indonesia.

"Sejak pertama diluncurkan permintaan Lexus LX 570 di Indonesia sangat tinggi. Ini yang mendorong kami mengeluarkan generasi terbaru dari LX 570," tukas Adrian Tirtadjaja, General Manager Lexus Indonesia, dalam acara press conference di Jakarta, Selasa (20/3/2012).

Menurut Adrian, di 2011 lalu penjualan Lexus di Indonesia didomonasi oleh varian LX 570 sebesar 40 persen. Untuk model terbaru ini terhitung Januari 2012 lalu sudah dipesan 60 unit. Lexus LX 570 generasi terbaru ini dibanderol mulai Rp2,25 miliar.

"Kami sudah menerima SPK (Surat Pemesanan Kendaraan) untuk LX 570 generasi terbaru sebanyak 60 unit dan konsumen baru akan mendapatkan unit pesanannya di akhir Maret ini," sambung Adrian.

Mesin yang digunakan pada LX 570 baru ini masih tetap sama dengan generasi sebelumnya, yakni dengan mesin 5.7-liter yang dapat menyemburkan tenaga hingga 383 tenaga kuda pada 5.600 rpm.

WASHINGTON - Pernah melamun ketika sedang mencuci piring? Jika hal ini kerap terjadi, kemungkinan Anda memiliki memori aktif yang sangat mumpuni.

Pikiran yang melayang-layang tersebut, sebenarnya bisa membuat memori aktif seseorang kelelahan. Memori aktif ini sendiri merupakan ruang kerja mental yang memungkinkan otak untuk menjalankan beberapa pikiran secara bersamaan.

Diwartakan Live Science, Selasa (20/3/2012), semakin banyak memori aktif yang dimiliki seseorang, mereka bisa lebih banyak melamunkan sesuatu tanpa melupakan tugas yang sedang dikerjakan.

"Hasil penelitian kami menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan yang cukup sering dilakukan orang setiap harinya, seperti ketika di dalam bus, bersepeda menuju kantor, atau sedang mandi, semuanya didukung oleh memori aktif," terang Jonathan Smallwood, peneliti dari Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Science.

"Otak mereka mencoba mengalokasikan sumber daya ke masalah yang paling menimbulkan stres," tambahnya.

Ketika pikiran seseorang mulai kekurangan memori aktif, lamunan atau pikiran yang menyimpang dari topik tersebut bisa mengambil alih panggung utama tanpa disadari.

Misalnya, membuat orang sampai di rumah tanpa mengingat hal-hal yang ada dalam perjalanannya, atau tiba-tiba menyadari bahwa mereka membolak-balik beberapa halaman buku tanpa memahami setiap kata-kata di dalamnya.

"Ini hampir mirip dengan keadaan saat perhatian Anda begitu terpusat pada lamunan sehingga tidak ingat satu pun tujuan Anda membaca," tandas Daniel Levinson, lulusan University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Investigating Healthy Mind yang juga terlibat dalam penelitian tersebut.

Penemuan itu jadi tambahan untuk penelitian terakhir yang menunjukkan bahwa lamunan bisa menjadi momen positif. Misalnya, melamun sering dikaitkan dengan kreativitas. Peneliti berpikir bahwa saat-saat kita yang paling kreatif dan inventif datang ketika melamun. Levinson juga mencatat kemungkinan bahwa yang paling cerdas di antara kita juga memiliki memori aktif  tingkat tinggi. (fmh)

Keluarga Peugeot 508 kini kedatangan anggota baru RXH Estate dan Saloon yang sama - sama mengadopsi teknologi HYbrid4. Penggerak bisa menggunakan roda depan atau belakang. Untuk depan, tenaga berasal dari mesin diesel 2.0-liter HDi dengan daya 163 PS. Sedangkan untuk roda belakang digerakkan oleh motor listrik 37 PS. Akselerasi 0 - 100 kpj bisa ditempuh dalam waktu 9 detik dengan kecepatan maksimum 208 kpj. Dengan perkawinan tersebut dihasilkan konsumsi bahan bakar 33 kpl dan emisi gas buang 95 g/km.
Sektor interior diklaim memberikan ruang yang lapang, lengkap dengan beberapa fitur seperti koneksi Bluetooth, sistem navigasi, cruise control, hill assist dan head up display. Mobil estate atau juga dikenal dengan station wagon, 508 RXH HYbrid4 dikasih beberapa aksesoris yang mencerminkan kesan gagah ciri mobil petualang. Pelapis ujung fender depan belakang yang lebih menonjol, seolah menyambung dari bemper depan, side skirt hingga bemper belakang. Guna mencegah kerusakan mesin bagian bawah, terpasang dek pelindung berbahan plastik.
Kedua mobil ini dijual mulai 31.450 - 33.695 poundsterling atau sekitar Rp 456 - 488,5 juta. Untuk varian RXH dijual terlebih dahulu pada Mei, sedangkan Saloon pada Juli.

Bees are tiny insects that are not really capable of thinking. However, they were able to finish a big job that was previously unimaginable. Each job requires special calculations and planning. It's amazing that such intelligence and expertise that exists on each bee. Thus, it is evident that every phase of his life, bees are subject to the wisdom and power of the Creator. Bees live every moment in life with the inspiration given by God, the Creator of the Mighty.
